Burglar Behind Bars

This was a good week for the residents of Edina and citizens all over the metro area. Stewart Pesheck is behind bars for 9 ½ years. His name probably does not do much for you, but his crimes certainly will. Mr. Pesheck was the person who was cutting phone lines prior to burglarizing homes in the metro area.
Judge Brandt, of Hennepin County, sentenced Pesheck to 114 months in prison. Assistant Hennepin County Attorney Monte Miller prosecuted this crime and indicated that Pesheck “earned” this sentence and I could not agree more.
Pesheck pled guilty to four counts of burglary in the second-degree and one count of attempted burglary in the second-degree. Additional charges were dismissed as a condition of the plea agreement. He also was ordered to pay restitution of more than $30,000.
Pesheck was actually arrested twice. He was released on bail after the first arrest and committed more burglaries once released. It’s unfortunate that career criminals are not held in jail. We all understand that you are innocent until proven guilty, however, I am willing to guess a few of his victims believe more should be done to hold career criminals in jail for trial. I personally believe more should be done to keep them locked up or have a better system of tracking them. I don’t make the rules, but if I did………
