That’s Jennifer Bennerotte.  Jennifer is the Director of Communications & Technology Services for the City of Edina.  That means that she is in charge of our website, newsletters, cable television presence, marketing, media relations and all aspects of our internal and external IT operations.  In other words, she’s got a big, interesting job.

I snapped this photo of Jennifer today at the Edina Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Meeting at Interlachen Country Club.  The Annual Meeting is the meeting at which the Chamber recognizes the outgoing Board of Directors, the incoming Chairperson and gives a number of awards and recogitions, the most prestigous of which is the Business Person of the Year.

The 2012 Edina Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year is…..Jennifer Bennerotte.

Yes, Jennifer works for a city government, which is not a business.  But, Jennifer is a very active member of the Chamber of  Commerce and, in every meaningful way possible, a very active member of the local Edina business scene.  She works hard to help make the Edina Chamber of Commerce successful and works with countless Edina businesses on City and Chamber related projects and events.

One of the most exciting aspects of Jennifer’s recognition today was that it was a secret.  She did not know that she was going to get the award until she walked into the Interlachen Country Club and started seeing a number of people she knows at the event today that aren’t typical attendees at Chamber luncheon events. (They were there to support her.) Then she saw a program for the luncheon today and it was all over – except for her complete surprise and a (very) brief moment of hyperventilation.  But Jennifer is a pro.  She composed herself and accepted her award with grace and professionalism.

So, Jennifer, on behalf of your co-workers (past and present) and the elected officials you serve (and have served) - congratulations!! We’re proud of you and your accomplishments, and glad you’re on our team.
