BCAT Partnership

SWTV contracts with Bloomington Community Access Television (BCAT) to provide residents of Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka and Richfield with:

  • FREE studio access
  • FREE equipment rentals 
  • FREE workshops and classes

Training Required

Residents must undergo training with BCAT's Communications Specialist, Ben Vinar, before using equipment or the studio.

Teen Video Boot Camp 2020 


Over one week, 12-to-17-year-old residents are given a chance to create their own short film.

Cost: $50 for Bloomington and SWTV residents and students. The teens will receive a one-year membership to BCAT, as well as be certified in BCAT's Digital Camera class as part of the camp. 

SWTV includes residents of Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka and Richfield.

Teens will:

  • Write a script
  • Learn how to operate a video camera and audio equipment
  • Act
  • Direct
  • Have fun being a part of a production team
The final day will include a screening of the film for friends and family!

Camp sizes range from a minimum of 4 participants to a maximum of 14.
