Congratulations to Mary Hischke, who logged 817,009 steps in May to become Edina’s top stepper in the 65 and over division of the Step To It Challenge.
Edina’s other big winner was Jason Jemelka, who logged a whopping 1,743,244 steps to top the under 65 division in Edina.
Thanks to our 187 participants in our inaugural year in the challenge. They logged more than 28 million steps in four weeks, placing Edina 16th among 25 participating communities. Not bad for year one.
We had so much fun getting people active that we will be doing the challenge again next year. For those who didn’t participate, steps aren’t just walking or running. Any activity, from gardening to biking, can be converted to steps. Prizes are given to division winners, and we had lots of giveaways from T-shirts to fitness trackers, just for participating.
Look for 2020 sign-up information next April. Until then, keep on stepping!
