Fitness classes and health programs have resumed in person. The Home Stretch (Tai Chi at Home) is still available. 

Registration is required for many classes and recommended for others. Unless otherwise listed:

Agility, Balance, Core Strength Class

The ABC class is part of the “Little Moves Big Result” series that’s low-impact (no floor exercises) and is designed for the beginner- to intermediate-level senior. In this class, we will work on agility training, balance drills, core strength, proper posture position, weights, bands and wobble cushions. This is a 45-minute class taught by Christy Zilka, a certified personal trainer specializing in Senior Fitness. Zilka has just completed two books to help seniors keep moving while watching their favorite TV program and morning stretches to do in bed before starting the day. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring water. Silver Sneakers and Silver and Fit members are encouraged to attend; class cost could be waived once verified.

Gentle Yoga Classes

Join us for gentle yoga warmup exercises and poses, along with easy meditation and relaxation practices that reduce stress. We’ll work on the whole body, improving flexibility, strength, balance and range of motion. Bring a mat. Instructor: Wendy Anderson

Option 1: Half-Class – Gentle Standing and Chair Yoga (No floor exercises)

Option 2: Full Class - Gentle Yoga (Includes floor exercises)

Easy Hatha Yoga

Beginners welcome. This is a relaxed yoga practice that works for most regardless of age or physical issues.  The class offers a wide variety of warm-ups and poses along with centering and relaxation. Improve flexibility, strength, balance, range of motion, and reduce tension and stress. Get rid of aches and pains, and sleep and feel better overall. Work at your own level in this supportive class. Join in-person or online via zoom. Instructor: Wendy Anderson

  • Wednesdays; June 7-Aug. 30 (No class July 5); 9:30-10:50 a.m. Cost: $168/session or drop-in rate of $16 per class

The ABCs of T'ai Chi Chuan

Together we’ll practice a gentle yet effective head-to-toe warm-up; simple Qigong exercises to stimulate the flow of energy; a restorative meditation done standing or sitting; and a slow-moving sequence of classical postures that promote balance, ease of movement, circulation and strength. Instructor: Spencer Chandler

  • Mondays; June 5, 12 & 26 (no class June 19); 12:15 p.m. Cost: $15/session or drop-in rate of $5 per class

The Home Stretch

Instructor Spencer Chandler offers a free, simple daily tai chi lesson on Mondays from 9:05 to 10 a.m. No prior knowledge, skill or equipment needed. Participate as often as you wish.
