Job Requirements

Members of the Fire Department are expected to work hard and provide a high quality of service to the community, making this a premier department in the region. Full-time paramedics and firefighters work a 24 hour shift with rotating days on and off (2,904 hours per year).

Salaries

  • Salaries range from $80,148.37 - $95,464.06
  • Incentive pay is also available for Paramedic Certification, Education, and Specialty Certification

Hiring Process

Certifications & Licenses

Candidates must have a high school diploma and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Paramedic certification. Candidates must also meet the licensing requirements of the Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education (MBFTE) within one year of hire.

South Metro Public Safety Training Facility

We are part owners in the South Metro Public Safety Training Facility, located in Edina. This combined public safety training center is operated by four police departments and three fire departments. Our Paramedics/Firefighters continually receive high level training to meet the demands of the changing world and expectations of our community. Instructors are brought in from across the country to teach the latest skills and techniques.
