About the Program
Join us for this 12-week program, which will give you an informative and interactive look behind the scenes of a the Edina Police Department. Through lectures, demonstrations and hands-on learning, you’ll discover the "real" world of law enforcement and how we carry out our mission "To Protect and Serve" on a daily basis.
What You Will Do
Some things you’ll get your hands on:
- Mock traffic stops
- Tour of the Hennepin County Jail
- Meet one of our award-winning K-9 teams
- Learn about the Metro Area Drug Task Force
- Proactive defensive tactics
- Follow the course of a criminal investigation
- Get a close look at our SWAT team
- And much more!
Completion of the Program
Upon completion of the program you’ll receive a gift, a certificate from the Edina Police Chief and local recognition as a graduate.
Location
Classes take place at the South Metro Public Training Facility, 7525 Braemar Blvd., and the Edina Police Department, 4801 W. 50th St.
Registration
To participate in the EPD Citizens’ Academy you must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Live or work in Edina
- Pass a criminal background check
- Pay a $25 fee

Class size is limited. Applications are accepted in the order in which they are received. Preference will be given to those who have not attended the academy.
