This piece is a bronze sculpture mounted on a large rock. It weighs 80 pounds and stands at 3 feet high. "Spaulding" was not meant to represent any particular breed of dog, but was created to embody the unabashed happiness, joy and unconditional love dogs express to their owners every day.
Heidi Hoy is a bronze artist who works out of her Mound, Minn. studio. She graduated from Hamline University with a bachelor's degree in studio art. A fundraising effort to put the "public" in public art began in early 2013. Donations from art-loving private citizens through the Edina Community Fund made "Spaulding" a permanent fixture at 50th & France in November 2013.
