The Artwork

Public Art Edina completed the first utility box wrap in the City in October 2014. The design features bright colors and floral theme to add vitality to the winter landscape.

The Artist

The artwork for the utility box was designed by Public Art Edina Working Group member and owner of Lidke Advertising & Design, Mark Lidke, and was installed by Unleashed Productions out of Minneapolis. Lidke is a professional graphic designer with over 30 years in the field.

The Funding

Public art in Edina is made possible through donations from community members and art lovers. Each utility box costs between $550 and $750 to wrap. Public Art Edina hopes to continue to wrap utility boxes throughout Edina working in conjunction with Public Works as utility boxes reach their life expectancy and need to be replaced. To donate to Public Art Edina or to make an artist submission, contact Parks & Recreation at 952-826-0367.

Location

The box is on the corner of 66th Street and Valley View Road.
