John Kerns is a children's musician based in South Minneapolis. After 20 years in the music scene, he released his first children's album in 2018 and has expanded into kid-friendly shows since. He is currently writing songs for a second children's album and a holiday album as well as contributing to more music projects around Minneapolis.

Centennial Lakes Park features free children's concerts at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Maetzold Amphitheater. 

The amphitheater is a short walk from the main entrance at Hughes Pavilion and has tiered seating. Visitors also may bring a blanket or lawn chairs to sit on the lawn. Picnics are allowed (no alcohol). Popcorn, ice cream and beverages are available for sale.

Free parking is available by Hughes Pavilion and across from the amphitheater in the Centennial Lakes Office Park on West 76th Street.
