Free Compost Distribution
Saturday, June 4, 2022
Edina residents can pick up bags of free compost while supplies last.
Limit 10 bags per household. That's enough to cover a 100-square-foot garden.
The compost is made from the food waste that Edina residents place in their organics recycling cart. That program has recycled more than 2,000 tons of food waste since its launch, diverting that from landfills and returning it to the community in the form of compost. Learn more about the program and what you can recycle.
At the compost distribution, staff will be on site to answer questions and provide organics education and supplies.
Residents should be prepared to show ID when driving up and are responsible for loading and transporting the bags of compost themselves. Each bag weighs approximately 40 pounds, and proper lifting techniques are advised. Additionally, participants are encouraged to find a way to reuse the plastic bags the compost comes in and share your ideas using the hashtag #EdinaRecycles.
