3916: Learn to Load and Fire an Electric Kiln
Thursday, July 12, 2018
Do you own an electric kiln? Learn the basics of firing your own kiln in this half day workshop. This class will cover different styles of kilns, firing speeds, electrical requirements and basic troubleshooting. Corey DeVorak, the Edina Art Center’s Studio and Firing Assistant will lead the workshop. Corey has extensive experience with the firing of multiple kilns at various temperatures. This workshop does not authorize students to fire the Edina Art Center’s kilns, but is helpful for educators and anyone aspiring to have a kiln of their own! Students are asked to bring approximately one cubic foot of dry green ware to load and fire in a bisque kiln. Pick up dates for the completed bisque firing will be decided during the class.
