3940: Pots that Expose Richness Within a Theme Workshop
Thursday, August 23, 2018
Learn from functional potter and contemporary clay artist Mary Weisgram about her use of stoneware and porcelain. Mary works in a familiar pottery tradition and on a scale useful to most people on a daily basis. Mary enjoys the natural rhythm of her work style, and the way it enables her to unconsciously personalize the forms. For these same reasons, she works with a limited color palette and with relatively few forms at a time. One group of pots leads to another, changing subtly with mood and experience, exposing the richness of variety possible while working within a theme. Mary’s artwork can be found at numerous art fairs throughout the mid-west and at her home co-op studio CASA (Community Arts Space Association) in Ames, Iowa.
