Dark Side of the Loon: Where History Meets Mystery
Saturday, May 19, 2018
Minnesota became the 32nd state of the union on May 11, 1858. The Edina Art Center is pleased to announce a special May event in honor of Minnesota’s 160th birthday.
Check out nineteen nefarious narratives exploring the dark side of Minnesota Nice. Each story is set against a historic period or event impacting the Land of 10,000 Lakes. From the Wild West days of Fort Snelling to the Great Hinckley Fire of 1894 and the Halloween Blizzard of 1991, Twin Cities Sisters in Crime writers will keep you on the edge of your seat with their chapter anthology, "Dark Side of the Loon."
The event will kick off with some coffee, baked goods, and a few words from the anthology editors. Then, local writers will read from their short stories: Midge Bubany (“You Picked a Fine Time to Kill Me, Lucille”); Marlene Chabot (“More Than Lessons”); Barbara Deese (“Twisted”); Judy Kerr (“Ruby Red Heist”); Michael Allan Mallory (“Not So Legendary Outlaws”); and Cheryl Ullyot (“The Professional”).
