[ARCHIVED] May is Building Safety Month

This proclamation for May of 2023 as Building Safety Month, demonstrates our commitment to building safety and fire prevention in our community.  “It Starts with You,” is the theme for Building Safety Month 2023.

Building Safety Month is a public awareness campaign to help individuals, families and businesses understand what it takes to create safe and sustainable structures. The campaign reinforces the need for adoption of modern, model building codes, a strong and efficient system of code enforcement and a well-trained, professional workforce to maintain the system.

Our department is using Building Safety Month to educate the community. It is an opportunity to increase public awareness of the role building safety and fire prevention officials, local and state building departments and federal agencies play to protect lives and property. They are the devoted vigilant guardians who are seldom seen but work daily to ensure safety in the built environment.
