Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Person of Interest

UPDATE (July 29, 11:55 a.m.) - The Edina Police Department thanks the public for their assistance in identifying the person of interest in a noose hung at the Edina Community Center earlier this week. A teenage boy has been established as a suspect. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further updates are anticipated this week.

Edina, Minn., July 27, 2022 – The Edina Police Department seeks the public’s help in identifying a teenager who might have information about a noose that was hung at the Edina Community Center earlier this week.

Edina Public Schools staff reported finding a noose at the Edina Community Center, 5701 Normandale Road, the morning of Tuesday, July 26. It was harnessed to an implement on the building’s roof and hung in one of the courtyards. The incident was reported to police and the noose immediately removed.

The Police Department has reviewed video surveillance from Monday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 26. Footage before the noose was placed shows a white teenage boy near the scene wearing a black Vans hoodie, dark shorts, tall socks, black slip-on canvas tennis shoes and backpack, having arrived on foot.
