Community Encouraged to Participate in Virtual National Day of Racial Healing Event Jan. 17

Edina, Minn., Jan. 11, 2023 – The City of Edina encourages residents to observe the National Day of Racial Healing Tuesday, Jan. 17.

This will be the seventh-annual National Day of Racial Healing. The day was established in 2017 to share stories, deepen relationships and build trust to create a more just and equitable world. The day is marked annually on the Tuesday following Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The cities of Edina, Bloomington, Brooklyn Park, Minneapolis, Saint Louis Park and Saint Paul, along with Hennepin and Ramsey counties, will host a free virtual community session 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 17.

The featured speaker at the event will be Dr. Eddie Moore, Junior. Nicknamed “Dr. Diversity,” Moore is most known for creating and leading The Privilege Institute, the White Privilege Conference and America & Moore, LLC. Moore will share insights on how we feel, deal and heal from the three evils of society – racism, poverty and war – described by Martin Luther King, Jr. in one of his speeches.

All community members are invited to participate by Zoom. Interpretation and translation services are available. Register online at bit.ly/3Healing.
