Tackle Waste at Edina’s 2023 Community Clothing Swap

Edina, Minn., March 20, 2023 – Clean out your closet and celebrate Earth Day by participating in the second-annual Community Clothing Swap 4-8 p.m. April 20, at Braemar Arena’s Backyard Rink, 7501 Ikola Way.

The event is free, does not require registration and is open to everyone, including nonresidents. Participants are encouraged to bring unwanted, washed clothing and accessories to swap with other people. All items are free to take home. Anything left over will be donated after the event.

The Pinky Swear Foundation has also partnered with GotSneakers and the Community Clothing Swap to host a sneaker drive. Bring used sneakers along with any clothing donations.

Donations can be dropped off 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 19 at the Edina Senior Center, 5280 Grandview Square, or after 3 p.m. April 20 at Braemar Arena’s Backyard Rink.

Sustainability Manager Grace Hancock described the event as “a fun way to connect with other people and see how far a simple, single action can go” when it comes to making an impact. “Doing things together as a community can really lead to change.”

Several organizations, such as the Edina Buy Nothing and Edina Give and Go groups, will be present to educate visitors on local sustainability projects. A “Reuse Fashion Show” will also take place from 6 to 7 p.m., featuring volunteer models wearing thrifted outfits or original designs.
