Edina Fire Promotes New Fire Captain

Edina, Minn., April 21, 2023 – Josh Link has been promoted to Captain of the Edina Fire Department.

Capt. John Brooks recently retired from the department. Link was promoted to the role April 8.

“I want to focus on building relationships on my team. I spent 21 years as a Firefighter and Paramedic before making Captain and always had plenty of opinions on good, bad and mediocre leadership. I'm hoping to put my money where my mouth is and strive to be a great leader,” Link said. “I've worked under many of them, including John Brooks, the Captain I am taking over for. He really took me under his wing and helped me with his mentorship.”

Link has been with the Edina Fire Department since 2010. He was recently added to the MN Task Force 1 team and has been involved with the Edina Firefighters Relief Association, Firefighters Local 1275 and the City of Edina’s Safety Committee.

“Josh has a lot of out-of-state experience. He spent time as a firefighter in Kentucky and fought wildfires in California,” said Operations Fire Chief Pete Fisher. “His background and knowledge make him a great asset to the department.”
