Nine Selected for the Multicultural Advisory Committee

Edina, Minn., Sept. 1, 2023 – Nine people have been chosen to serve on the Edina Police Department’s Joint Community Police Partnership Multicultural Advisory Committee (MAC). 

“This is a very exciting time for us as we embark on this new initiative,” said Police Chief Todd Milburn. “The MAC represents many diverse backgrounds and perspectives which will allow us to cover a variety of topics important to the Edina community. We are excited to get to work.”

The committee members are:

  • Sayali Amarapukar – Works in Edina and resident
  • Asad Dahir – Resident
  • Mike Fasbender – Works in Edina
  • Mark Felton – Resident
  • Jennifer Johnson – Works in Edina
  • Donna Montgomery – Resident
  • Dietrich Nissen – Edina business owner and resident
  • Mark Segal – Resident
  • Loretta Smith – Works in Edina and resident

The Joint Community Police Partnership is a Hennepin County program. Community Liaison Lulu Thompson will lead the MAC in working collaboratively with the Edina Police Department to better serve, communicate with and understand the many cultures that reside in, work in or visit the Edina community. 

The MAC’s first meeting will take place in mid-September. The group will meet monthly with police personnel to discuss topics that are important to their communities, build mutual trust and open up two-way communication. Meetings are not open to the public.
