Edina, Minn., Nov. 28, 2023 – The Edina Police Department invites the public to a retirement celebration for K-9 Blitz 4:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Edina City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St.

After serving the City of Edina for eight years, K-9 Blitz will retire at the end of the year. Blitz and his handler, Sean Young, have responded to 658 total calls for service over the years, including calls for tracks, building searches, article searches, narcotic searches and high-risk stops. The duo has earned many awards over the years, including first place in vehicle search in the Narcotic Detector Trials in 2018 and first place in room search in the Narcotic Detector Trial in 2022.

There will be a meet and greet in the City Hall lobby with Blitz to send him into retirement. If attendees are inclined to bring a gift, donations for Secondhand Hounds will be collected. Secondhand Hounds is in need of canned dog and kitten food, dog waste bags or any other dog supplies. A Toys for Tots collection will also be at the event.
