Edina, Minn., Jan. 10, 2023 – Nick Donahue is the Edina Police Department’s new Community Engagement Officer.
Donahue joined the Edina Police Department as a Police Officer in November 2015. He has been involved in the SWAT team since 2016 and has served as a sniper since May 2019. Donahue is transitioning to Community Engagement from Retail Crime Investigations, a role he has been in since January 2020. Although he will be full-time in this role, he will continue his work with the SWAT team.
“I look forward to meeting residents, sharing my knowledge and educating them on ways to prevent becoming a victim of a crime,” said Donahue. “In this role, I will get to meet so many awesome people like the little girl, Claire, who just delivered donuts to the Police Department for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. I think having the opportunity to make a positive impact on kids is the absolute best part of this job and what I am most excited for.”
Donahue is a graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in justice administration and political science. Then he completed his law enforcement skills program at Alexandria Technical College.
Donahue follows in the steps of Emily Jepson, who served as Edina’s first Community Engagement Officer. Jepson was promoted to Sergeant in September 2023.
