Fire Damages Edina Home on Green Farms Road

Edina, Minn., Nov. 19, 2018 – The Edina Department was called to the 5000 block of Green Farms Road at 11:39 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, after the homeowner reported a fire.

Firefighters arrived to a working fire, but were able to quickly extinguish it. The fire was contained to a bedroom, where a bed caught fire after a lamp was set on it. There were no injuries.

“The residents were alerted by their smoke alarms sounding and were able to exit the house quickly and call 911,” said Fire Marshal Rick Hammerschmidt. “The importance of working smoke alarms cannot be overstated. Remember to test smoke alarms monthly and change the batteries twice yearly.”

While fire damage was contained to the bed and a small table next to it, there was smoke damage throughout the home.

The Edina Fire Department received mutual aid from the Eden Prairie, Hopkin, Minnetonka, Richfield and St. Louis Park fire departments.
