Edina, Minn., Dec. 11, 2018 – Organizers have deemed Paramount Residential Mortgage Group’s multi-language homebuyer seminar for people interested in moving to Edina a success.
In 2017, the City began a race-and-equity initiative to improve the quality of life for residents and provide a better environment for people to live, work and play in the community. Local real estate agents and mortgage professionals have worked with the City to go beyond local government policy changes and actively promote diverse homeownership in the community. As a result, the Dec. 1 multi-language homebuyer seminar was developed. Twenty-nine people attended the event, in addition to presenters and translators.
Mayor Jim Hovland welcomed attendees to the event. The seminar included a presentation on the homebuying process and the steps for pre-qualification, and the opportunity for on-on-one consultations in multiple language. There were interpreters for Bosnian, Croatian, German, Serbian, Amharic/Ethiopian, Spanish, Vietnamese, Hmong, French, Arabic and Laotian.
“Not only are we now working with multiple families that want to move to Edina, but we also met a few different real estate agents, loan officers, Minnesota Housing Finance Agency employees and residents who came to meet us and ask how they can help,” said Clinton Rooney, Production Manager at Paramount Residential Mortgage Group. “The seminar went really well and we are excited to do it again.”
Based on overwhelming interest in the first seminar, which was sponsored by the City of Edina, the organizing team are working on plans for another seminar in the spring.
