Edina, Minn., Jan. 7, 2019 – At 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, Edina Police officers responded to the 7000 block of France Avenue South and West 70th Street after multiple people reported shots fired in the area.
Upon arriving to the scene, police found three shell casings on West 70h Street and began interviewing witnesses. One witness took photos of an altercation outside, which he shared with police. At 5:30 p.m. that evening, the St. Paul Police Department stopped a man who matched the suspect in the photo.
Jeffrey Ross Paxton of St. Paul was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm. Paxton has two previous felonies, which prohibit him from possessing a firearm.
“Thanks to the prompt and thorough police investigation and help from partner agencies, along with the courage of witnesses to provide information, this case was able to be resolved with a quick arrest,” said Sgt. Brandon Kuske.
