This summer, selected households of limited financial means will benefit from a Hennepin County Tree Grant.
These funds will be used to remove and replace Ash trees in their yards. For families on a tight budget, it is a financial hardship, if not completely infeasible to remove and replace trees, even those at risk of infection. Yet, these households, and the City in general, benefit greatly from a healthy tree canopy.
To help these households, the City Forester, Sustainability Coordinator and Affordable Housing Development Manager collaborated in a grant application to Hennepin County, which was selected for a funding award. Work will commence this spring.
