Centennial Lakes Park kicks off a summer of entertainment and events starting in June.
The Maetzold Amphitheater at the south end of the park features free live concerts at 7 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evenings with a variety of acts from the Edina Chorale to the First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band. On Tuesdays at 7 p.m., catch live music next to the water.
Free children’s entertainment, from storytellers to magic acts, takes the amphitheater stage at noon Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Movies in the Park kicks off at sunset Thursday, June 13, in the amphitheater with “Leap!” an animated adventure comedy about an orphan girl who dreams of becoming a ballerina in Paris. Other films in the free series, always at sunset on Thursdays, include “Crazy Rich Asians” (June 27), Best Picture Oscar winner “Green Book” (July 25), “Justice League” (Aug. 1), and the musical sequel “Mary Poppins Returns” (Aug. 8). There is no movie July 4.
Popcorn and soda are sold on site for the movies or patrons can bring their own snacks. Please note no alcohol is allowed. Bring a blanket to sit on. Chairs are welcome, but please set those up farther back to avoid blocking the view of others.
The Centennial Lakes Farmers Market is held 3 to 7 p.m. every Thursday, June 6 through the end of September. Vendors set up along the walkways leading north and south from Hughes Pavilion, 7499 France Ave. S. Fresh-from-the-farm produce, flowers, honey, sauces, bread, meat and eggs are among the items sold each week. The market also features street food vendors, from the dumplings of Tibetan Momo to potato sliders from newcomer Muddy Tiger Indian Street Food.
The Edina Model Yacht Club will present the Parade of Boats 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 9. The annual Torchlight Concert and Lighthouse night will be Aug. 11. The park also hosts the annual Edina Fall Into the Arts Festival Sept. 7-8.
