The August Walk With the Mayor is scheduled for 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Centennial Lakes Park, 7499 France Ave. S. Participants should meet at Hughes Pavilion a few minutes before the start of the walk at 6:30 p.m.
“The new pedestrian bridges have been installed at Centennial Lakes Park and they are beautiful! People who regularly use the park are giving them high praise. In addition to their outstanding aesthetics, the updates have also allowed us to make both bridges ADA accessible and stroller friendly,” said Mayor Jim Hovland. “We had hoped to visit Centennial Lakes Park during our May walk, but rain kept us away. We’re hoping for good weather this time around so people can enjoy the summertime beauty of Centennial Lakes Park.”
Centennial Lakes Park General Manager Tom Shirley will also attend the walk to answer any questions and guide the group on the walk.
Participating in the Walk with the Mayor gives community members a chance to voice concerns, share opinions and thoughts as well as just talk with Hovland while getting to know the city a little bit better. No prior registration is required to attend Walk With the Mayor; simply show up at the designated meeting time to walk and talk with Hovland.
