2. Where do I obtain a Recreational Fire Permit?: Complete a free recreational fire permit form.

3. How do I dispose of unwanted medication or needles?

To dispose of small quantities of medications, you can pick up a drug deactivation packet at Edina Fire Station 1, 6250 Tracy Avenue, to dispose your unwanted medication at home. Edina Fire Department does not accept unwanted medications, prescription or nonprescription drugs, syringes, lancets or EpiPens. For larger quantities of medication, visit the Hennepin County site to learn more.

Syringes, lancets and other needles: Hennepin County offers these guidelines and tips along with options for disposal. Residents also visit the Problem Waste Drop-off Center at 1400 W. 96th St. in Bloomington.

4. Can I have a grill on the deck or patio of my apartment or condo?: Probably not. The City’s policy, found here (PDF), outlines what is and isn’t allowed. In addition, your landlord may have rules restricting grills.

5. Does the Fire Department do blood pressure checks?

6. How can I post emergency information (Life File) in my home for paramedics to find?

Paramedics and other Edina emergency responders will look for what’s called a Life File form if they respond to your home. This form, which you fill out, lets them know vital information like medications you take, hospital preference, insurance information and emergency contacts. This form is especially helpful if you or another family member is unconscious or unable to respond clearly.

The below links will help you find and fill out this form. You can put the completed form in an envelope clearly marked "Life File" on your refrigerator. If you do not want it posted there, paramedics also will look for it by your medicine cabinet or on the back of your front door. Just make sure it is in plain sight in one of these locations.

7. Where can I get my Fire extinguishers serviced?: Fire extinguishers should be maintained annually by a fire extinguisher professional. The Edina Fire Department maintains a list of Licensed Fire Extinguisher Service Companies (PDF) to assist you in finding a professional licensed in Edina.

8. Does the Fire Department check car seats?

The City of Edina does not offer car seat checks. However, plenty of assistance is available.

9. Can I tour the fire station?

Currently all tours are canceled due to COVID-19.
