2. All City of Edina dog licenses are good for the calendar year and expire on Dec. 31. Renewals of dog licenses must be completed before March 1 to avoid a $10 late fee.

4. Why Licenses Are Required

   Licensing provides the City with a method of ensuring dogs are properly vaccinated against rabies. Additionally, dog owners receive tremendous value from a license in that authorities make every effort to return lost dogs to their homes when they are wearing a current license. All other dogs are transported to an animal shelter where impounding and boarding fees are charged.

6. How To Get or Renew a License

   Online: Fill out this form for a new or renewal license.
   In Person: At the front desk of the Edina Police Department office at City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St., between 8 and 4:30 p.m. weekdays. You will need to provide current rabies vaccination information at the time of application. 

8. Cost
   • $20 per neutered or spayed dog. 
   • $30 for dogs not neutered or spayed
   • $6 for a duplicate tag

   
   

9. Off-Leash Area Collars

   Off-leash-area collars are required to use the off-leash dog park at Van Valkenburg Park. Discounts on multiple collars are available by purchasing in person in the Police Department office at Edina City Hall.

    Dog license numbers are valid for the life of a dog.

    Request a new number only if the tag is unreadable. Please have the tag handy when you fill out this form.
