  2. Performance: Armenian Dance Ensemble

    In 1990, under the auspices of ACOM, the Armenian Dance Ensemble of Minnesota (ADE) was formed. This group has evolved into a strong, self-sufficient and organized entity over the years. As a non-profit, inter-generational performing group, the mission of the ADE is to preserve the traditional folk dances as they were done in various regions of historic Armenia, thereby enhancing community awareness of the Armenian heritage, culture and history. Weekly rehearsals are held. An invitation is extended to anyone who is interested in this aspect of the Armenian culture. Armenians and "odars" are welcome to participate. If you have questions, contact Naïry by using the form on the right Armenian Dance Ensemble will be performing at the Centennial Lakes Maetzold Amphitheater.     Minneapolis based Sawyer’s Dream is an all original band with amazing 4-part vocal harmonies. The name “Sawyer’s Dream” emanates from the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, where in the 18th Chapter “Tom’s Dream,” the boy’s dream was to go home to be with his family. Laden with the outdoors, adventure and family, Mark Twain’s writings really resonated with the band. These inspirations combined with vocal harmonies similar to those of groups such as the Mamas & the Papas, ABBA and Bread, create a unique cross-blending of Americana, Folk, Soul, Pop and Rock. These genres formulate into an adventurous and whimsical music creation, offering the listener a modern take on the classic rock of the ’60s and ’70s.     Westwind Swing Band was started in 2015. This 14 piece band was formed by Joe Singer, our lead clarinetist, who was primarily inspired by the music of Artie Shaw. The band focuses on music from the 1920's to 1940's, playing a combination of swing music, Dixieland, and jazz tunes popularized by iconic bands like Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and of course, Artie Shaw! The band consists of talented musicians from the Hopkins Westwind Concert Band and features two amazing vocalists, Luke Slivinski, and Robyn Barziza Chargo. Westwind Swing Band will be playing at the Centennial Lakes Maetzold Amphitheater. Popcorn and soda available for purchase at our concessions stand!
