    Draw from the model and learn the methods of the masters. The first half of class will consist of short poses to seize the figure quickly and to capture the rhythmic action of the pose. The second half of the class will be a sustained pose carried on in the remaining classes. This gives students the opportunity to learn how to finish a drawing incorporating form, anatomy, beauty of line and “sculpting” the body from within.   59. Bob Briscoe Workshop - Pots Made to be Used

    Watch potter and artist Bob Briscoe demonstrate his organic and quick way of working at the wheel moving rapidly from pot to pot. His process creates a flow of one pot forming and evolving into the next one. The potter’s wheel is just the start of Bob’s way of creating the ultimate clay form. He will alter the thrown forms at various stages and apply texture to the surface of pots to support and enliven them. The workshop will include a discussion and demonstration of his use of slips and ash glazes. Bob is well known for the simple, functional pottery he has created for over 48 years! Come watch, learn and experience pottery made by a Minnesota Master! This workshop is funded in part by the Kathy Parker Memorial Fund at the Edina Community Foundation.

  75. Advanced Soda Firing Methods

    Students will work to create and prepare pottery to be fired in the studio’s outdoor soda kiln. Advanced students will work on and off the wheel on thrown, altered and hand-built forms. Emphasis will be on creating pottery forms that work well in the soda kiln. This is a hands-on class in which students learn the theory and practice of loading, firing, unloading and glazing for the soda kiln.

  76. Portrait Drawing and Painting

    Emphasis will be on shapes, values and color. Students will be encouraged to establish an accurate likeness. Drawing using the sight-size or comparative method will be used. All levels welcome.
