  1. Painting the Clothed Figure in Costume

    Students in the class will work directly from the clothed model in a sustained pose. Students will strengthen their sense of observation by painting the live model. We will discuss color, relationships, drawing and composition with a strong emphasis on light and shadow in paint. Drawing will be done in charcoal or painting directly on the canvas.

  4. Raku and Pit Firing

    Raku and pit firing are popular firing techniques in ceramics. The unifying theme of these two techniques is the ability to work directly with the fire to achieve both quick and unique results not available with more conventional firing techniques. You’ll love the experience of working with glowing red-hot pieces in a raku kiln or uncovering pots fired in a pit kiln.

  5. Pottery and Sculpture

    Demonstrations will cover hand-building and basic wheelthrowing techniques, as well as more advanced concepts upon request. Students will work at their own pace with both individualized and group instruction. No clay experience necessary; advanced students welcome.
