Want to learn how to make a pot on the wheel? Have you taken several beginning classes, but still struggle with the basic skills of centering, making bowls and cylinders, trimming feet and glazing? This class is for you! Learn all the basic skills for throwing on the wheel. There will be a lot of personal attention to help students develop good habits from the start.
Learn techniques for creating sculpture out of clay. If you want to create an animal, figure, abstract or some other type of ceramic work, this class is for you. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination! Students will learn proper architecture for creating sculpture. Individual attention is given to allow students to pursue their own direction. Come to the first class with your own project idea and we will work together to create it. Students must purchase their own clay on the first day of class (approximately $10-15).
This opportunity is being provided to current members and students who are enrolled in a pottery class. Bring your bisque-fired and Raku-glazed
pottery to class. Please limit the amount of work you bring to 4 pieces, 5 inches tall or the equivalent. Two kiln loads will be fired per class session. Glazing fees will be required for the Raku firing. Please register at least 48 hours in advance; otherwise, the class will be cancelled due to low enrollment.
