  2. Author's Studio with Jenney Egertson

    January 12, 2019, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Art Center

Before I Leave: Wisdom from the Stories of Six Women Over Eighty 10:00-11:00a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 A talk and Q&A with author Jenney Egertson about her new memoir, and what she learned from the six women she interviewed. In 2000, Jenney Egertson met Maude Kelly—an event that inspired Jenney to write about a diverse group of women over the age of eighty. During the fifteen turbulent years that followed, Jenney learned about aging, parenting, navigating systemic racism, and accepting community. Before I Leave follows Jenney’s journey from the re-emergence of her dream to become a writer, through her fears about middle age, to the acceptance she came to in her sixties. Jenney discusses the women she interviewed, the writing challenges she faced, and how she hopes people across generations will use the insights she gained through knowing and loving these remarkable women. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
