The annual Fourth of July Parade will celebrate Edina High School hockey and kick off a daylong celebration of America’s independence.
The hour-long parade, featuring animals, floats, fire trucks and marching bands along with local businesses and organizations, starts at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4, behind City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St. The route heads down West 50th, ending at Halifax Avenue.
This year’s grand marshals will be players from both the boys and girls Edina Hornets hockey teams. Both won state titles in 2019.
An estimated 20,000 people view the parade. Parade viewers are allowed to set up chairs or blankets in advance of the parade but are asked to avoid blocking sidewalks. Bleachers near City Hall offer seating, and an emcee in that area announces each parade entry.
Those who are unable to attend can watch it via Facebook Live. Check the City of Edina’s Facebook page at the parade start for the broadcast link.
